The Active Life Herne Bay Pier to Pier swim is a m, km or 3km, chip timed sea swim for both experienced and inexperienced sea swimmers to complete in a sheltered course along the coast between Hampton Pier and Herne Bay’s iconic 19th Century on: Herne Bay, Kent. In The Friends of Herne Bay Clock Tower commissioned author Faye Beerling to write a children's book, Tales From the Clock Tower. It was launched on 23 August in the Friends of Herne Bay Clock Tower information centre. It later became an audio book narrated by John Pennington and published by Fairy Faye on: Central Parade, Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 5JJ.

The photo was taken from the pier, and shows the beach to the east of the pier. The photographer was Fred C. The old Pier's head is known to everyone in Herne Bay (Image: Ian Scammell) The second longest pier in England. There has been a pier in Herne Bay sinceand as time went on more additions were added to it until in it was completed.

Stretching 3, feet out into the sea, Herne Bay's pier was the second longest in England. Herne Bay pier book HBP 1 – Herne Bay’s Piers Written by the late Harold Gough, this is an expanded edition of a book that has been out of print for some years.
